North Stars Girls Field Well Represented On Canada East Rosters

Seven girls field lacrosse players from the Owen Sound North Stars program have earned spots on the National Developmental Team Program (NDTP) Canada East lacrosse rosters for the 2025 season.

Ella Todd (U15), Bree Wilkins, Taryn Weppler and London Doyle (U17) and Taryn Lee, Laine Nissen and Brooklyn Doyle (U19). Owen Sound JEWL coach Lyndsay Brooks is an assistant coach on the Canada East U19 team. The NTDP Canada East teams will participate in tournaments in the United States this summer and into the fall.

Launched in collaboration with Lacrosse Canada, the newly established NDTP aims to create a high-performance training and competition environment to prepare athletes and coaches for success on the international stage—particularly as Canada looks ahead to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The North Stars earned their roster spots after attending an open tryout on December 28 and 29, where they competed against top players from across Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.

“We are extremely proud of these girls,” said Kelly Wilkins, President of Owen Sound Girls’ Field Lacrosse. “As an organization, we have had tremendous success with our teams and players. Last summer, Owen Sound was well represented at the Ontario Summer Games and the accomplishments of these players is just another example of that success.”
