womenS FIELD lacrosse

  • “Rep” is short for “Representative”, as in the teams that represent the club in competitions with other clubs. Owen Sound offers Rep programs in Box Lacrosse, Field Lacrosse, and Women’s Field Lacrosse. Players must be residentially bound to the club to play Rep.

In age divisions where there are enough players interested in Rep, a second Rep team is also established. Rep teams participate in league play and provincials under the Ontario Lacrosse Association.

Rep Box is introduced at U7 while Rep Field and Women’s Field are introduced at U9.

  • This age chart is for Women’s Field Lacrosse registration, and only for the 2024 season:

    U9 - 2017/2016

    U11 - 2015/2014

    U13 - 2013/2012

    U15 - 2011/2010

    U19 - 2009/2008/2007/2006

    Senior

  • Ontario Lacrosse has residential boundary regulations that require players to play Rep in the next closest center to their home address. Players don’t have to live in Owen Sound but they must be residentially bound to the club to play Rep. To check your next closest center, complete the Where Do I Play? form on the Ontario Lacrosse website.

  • Very little equipment is required to play women's field lacrosse. Required equipment includes:

    → Women's field lacrosse stick ¹

→ Moulded mouthguard that covers all upper teeth ²

    → Goggles ³

Note¹: A women's field lacrosse stick is different than a box lacrosse or men's field lacrosse stick in that it has a shallow pocket. For a full list of sticks that are legal (which includes nearly all sticks available for purchase by major brands in Canada, click here.

Note²: All players, including the goalkeeper, must properly wear a professionally manufactured mouth guard that fully covers the upper teeth. The mouth guard shall be of any readily visible colour other than colourless or red or white and must not have graphics of teeth. Mouth guards must not be altered to decrease protection and field players must remove protruding tabs.

Note³: OWFL and OLA mandate the use of goggles at all ages divisions for safety.

  • (i.e. Team 1 vs Team 2)

No. Players cannot self-select the rep team that they wish to play for. If a player does not make either of the Rep Box teams, they are eligible to play in the OSML local league program. The team that your child will play on will be determined entirely by the coaches for that age group based on skill level.
