the ron hopper real estate u13 girls field north stars stand tall at provincials!

The Owen Sound Ron Hopper Real Estate U13 Girls' Lacrosse Team recently competed in the Ontario Women's Field Lacrosse Provincials in Oshawa from July 26th-28th, 2024. While the results didn't always go their way, the team's commitment, growth and development throughout the season were remarkable, thanks to the dedicated efforts of coaches Adam Jackson, Lauren Radbourne, and Laine Nissen.

Game 1: Owen Sound North Stars vs. Burlington Blaze

In the first game against the Burlington Blaze, the North Stars got off to a promising start with Quinn Norton scoring the only goal of the first quarter, giving the team a 1-0 lead. The defense, led by Kyla Johnson in goal, put in a strong performance, with Kyla making crucial saves and keeping the game close. However, the Blaze managed to gain momentum in the second half, eventually winning 5-1.

Game 2: Owen Sound North Stars vs. Orillia Lady Kings

The second game against the Orillia Lady Kings was an exciting and hard-fought battle. Quinn Norton scored early, and by halftime, the game was tied 4-4, thanks to a hat-trick from Harper Lines. The match continued to be tightly contested, with Lyla Doyle and Quinn Norton adding goals in the third quarter. In a nail-biting finish, the Lady Kings edged out the North Stars with a final score of 9-8, despite a strong effort from the team.

Game 3: Owen Sound North Stars vs. Kawartha Lacrosse

The final round-robin game against Kawartha Lacrosse was a must-win for the North Stars to keep their hopes alive to continue to compete for a bronze medal. Quinn Norton scored early to tie the game at 1-1 in the first quarter. The game remained close, with Harper Lines narrowing the gap to 3-2 in the fourth quarter. Kyla Johnson stood tall in net, facing over 20 shots, but Kawartha eventually pulled away to win 6-2.

Even though they didn't bring home a medal, the Owen Sound North Stars have a lot to be proud of. The team played with heart and tenacity, leaving everything on the field. The experience they gained and the friendships they built will undoubtedly drive their future success.
