The u15 creative playground girls field north stars finish the season as the 4th ranked team in the province!

The U15 Creative Playground North Stars wrapped up their season over the weekend, competing in the Ontario Girls Field Lacrosse Championships in Waterloo, ON. The Lady North Stars went into the Provincial weekend as the 4th ranked team in the Province and after their tournament was completed, they remained in the same position. The team played Kitchener-Waterloo in the opening match and ended up losing a heartbreaker 10-8. KW would end up the gold medal champion when the weekend was over, only highlighting how closely matched the top 6 Provincial teams actually were. In game 2 the North Stars battled Halton Hills and secured an 11-9 win. In order to advance to the medal round, the Lady Stars needed a huge win in game 3 over the Orillia Lady Knights, which they managed to do after a massive comeback in the 4th quarter to secure a 7-5 victory and punch their ticket to the top 4. In the semifinal game the girls matched up against Toronto Beaches, a tough matchup all season for the Stars. The Stars lost the game, setting the stage for the bronze medal final, once again facing Halton Hills. Halton Hills would avenge their earlier loss to capture the bronze. London Dolye, Sarah Barfoot and Camryn Laycock lead the way for the North Stars, each with 8 goals followed by Leah Cooper, Avery Seaman & Lily Shute with 2 and singles from Ella Todd, Allie Scott and Scarlett Stevenson. Defensively, the team was lead by Jenna Cranny, Caitlyn Tran, Avery Thompson & Scarlett. Ella & Addi McCoubrey were called upon to play various roles while Allie, McKenna Ward & Ava Ward provided strong play in the offensive zone throughout the tournament.

The team’s unsung hero was goalie Callie Sarvis. At the start of the season Callie was asked to play goal, a position she had never played before. Callie continued to grow and improve all season showcasing talent over the weekend.

Like any good team, the goal is to secure some hardware in the final weekend, but it was not in the cards when the final buzzer sounded. Losing a bronze medal game certainly doesn’t define a season, especially when this particular team was chalked full of so many amazing athletes, coaches and families. Thank you to everyone who supported the wonderful group throughout the summer.
